I really enjoyed this essay because it gave me a taste of the hardships that my mother had to put up with. I also liked it because it talks about disproving stereotypes which I really think would be better for the world if we just got rid of all stereotypes.

Judith is from Puerto Rico and for much of the passage, discusses her life as a Latina and how she would be judged for doing common people activity. She would be ridiculed for her clothes and labeled illegal or a prostitute. Even after this, she would not let it get to her as she believes Latina women are works of God. Because of this lack of English education, we fail to assimilate the students to be functioning members of the United States. The way we are able to assimilate students is to create better programs for students who are learning English; that way, when it is time to enter the workforce, they will be able to understand what it takes to move ahead in this country.
